Why are teams required to purchase Basketball BC athlete or coach membership?
The main purpose is for Basketball BC (BBC) membership is for comprehensive insurance coverage for accidents, injuries and liabilities in our gyms. However there are so many added cost-saving benefits:
  • 20% off Nike Stores
  • 15% off best available rates at any Sandman hotels in BC
  • be a part of Canada Basketball national member program
  • KidSport funding eligibility for financial assistance towards registration fees and equipment to kids aged 18 and under (worth up to $300 depending on your region)
  • Coaches get free access to Basketball BC's online Coaches Clipboard that has over 10,000 drills and training resources plus unlimited rentals with their video library!!!!!
For example:
You automatically save $30 and get your $15 fee back if you buy one pair of $150 shoes at Nike! Or save $20 already just by booking ONE night at the Sandman for JANT or $100 off for the ENTIRE WEEK! More importantly, being a member of BBC puts our own First Nations youth on the same level field with the rest of the province. Our kids will get automatic email invites to all BBC zone, regional and provincial camps and tryouts! They can try out for free to BBC's Centre for Performance and get identified by provincial, college and university coaches across BC and Canada. It's a stepping stone to competing at that next level. Team BC players have always done well at NAIG basketball but some of our youth do not have access to opportunities or get recognized for their talents and skills. By being a part of our own Provincial Sport Organization (BBC) and National Sport Organization (Canada Basketball), our youth gains so much by just buying a $15 membership fee...
